SRVIVR25™ Series Cockpit Voice and Flight Data Recorders

Product overview

L3Harris has been providing reliable recorders for nearly 60 years for nearly every platform, and the newest SRVIVR25™ line of cockpit voice and data recorders provide the longest duration recording of voice and flight data yet. Touted as one of the most valuable tools used for understanding real-time situational awareness, workload and reactions in adverse conditions, this new line of lightweight recorders offers airlines low-cost of ownership and data reliability while meeting the 2021 European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) 25-hour recording mandate.

This line consists of various models as either a stand-alone Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR), dedicated Flight Data Recorder (FDR), combination Cockpit Voice and Data Recorder (CVDR) as well as a fixed/deployable solution in ARINC and non-ARINC variations. These new recorders also support direct replacement for FA2100 as well as other ARINC 747 and 757 recorders, offering airlines flexibility for both new and existing aircraft.

  • Four audio channels each with 25+ hours of audio (CVR) recording
  • 25+ hours Datalink recording
  • 140+ hours of flight data recording (FDR) @ 2048wps
  • Environmentally friendly Underwater Locator Beacon (ULB)
  • Direct replacement for FA2100s
  • Meets EU 2015/2338 Mandate
  • Supports automated  distress tracking and timely recovery of flight data

Key features

The FAA TSO certification for the Cockpit Voice & Data Recorder (CVDR) was received in May 2020 and is used on the Airbus single-aisle aircraft. Additional certifications for the SRVIVR25™ Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) and Flight Data Recorders (FDR) will be received in 2020. The SRVIVR25™ exceeds the minimum requirement for 25-hours of audio (CVR) and Datalink recording for each of the four audio input channels while also offering a higher fidelity recording using omnidirectional microphones (SO58/DM) and improved immunity against vibration and RF interface. The SRVIVR25™ also provides over 70 hours of flight data (FDR) recording duration.

The entire series meets EU2015/2338 mandate requiring 25-hours of cockpit voice recording capability on new aircraft with Maximum Certified Take-off Mass (MTCOM) of more than 27,000kg. Additionally, the SRVIVR25™ platforms are designed to support future enhancements to accommodate IP video or other data-intensive functions, real-time data streaming and ability to host the trigger mechanism for Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (GADSS) connected to other aircraft devices. Additional discrete input and output ports and data transfer through digital communication buses.

The SRVIVR25™ incorporates new 90 day Underwater Locator Beacons (ULB) delivering the first environmentally friendly solution. The new beacons remove the Class 9 hazardous material classification and meets the FAA special conditions non-rechargeable lithium batteries reducing special handling, packaging, labeling, and shipping requirements.

L3Harris' first combined SRVIVR25™ Cockpit Voice & Data Recorder (CVDR) and Automatic Deployable Flight Recorder (ADFR) solution is a significant step for civil aviation history as the first fixed and deployable recorder system which is exclusively available on the A350.

The deployable ADFRs are designed and manufactured by Leonardo DRS Technologies Canada. This solution adds state-of-the-art capability new to commercial airliners: the ability for the voice and data recorder to be deployed in the event of significant structural deformation or water submersion while also initiating the Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT). These units are designed to float and the crash-protected memory module contains at least 25-hours of recorded cockpit voice and flight data and is equipped with an integrated dual-frequency Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) to help rescue teams rapidly locate the downed aircraft, attend to survivors, and supports Timely Recovery of Flight Data (TRFD) to expedite accident investigation.

A Recorder Interface Unit (RIU) is used for the combined fixed and deployable solution for Airbus specific variants using the CVDR and ADFR on the Airbus A330, A350 and A380 platforms.

L3Harris' SRVIVR25™ CVDR delivers exceptional performance and reliability. It provides a minimum of  25-hours of recording capabilities on up to four channels (cockpit area microphone and three additional crew microphone inputs), and DataLink recording ideal for A320, A330, A350 and A380s, as well as all ARINC 747 and 757 standards on Boeing, Embraer and Bombardier platforms. The specific CVDR installation is dependent on standards and the aircraft/OEM wiring.

This lightweight, ruggedized Crash-Survivable Memory Unit (CSMU) made of stainless steel weighs only 9.79 pounds. The SRVIVR25™ is also available as a stand-alone CVR or FDR. It has demonstrated incredible crash worthiness.

The SRVIVR25™ series records a minimum of 70-hours of flight data at 64/128/256/or 512, 2028 words-per-second (wps). The unit is ARINC 573.717/747 (data) 557- and 757- compliant.

L3Harris' SRVIVR25™ CVR delivers exceptional performance and reliability supporting audio recording only.

L3Harris’ innovative SRVIVR25™ line of FDRs provide low cost of ownership and the longest duration of voice and flight data ever available for analysis. They provide 70+ hours of flight recording @ 2048wps. Additionally, the recorder provides additional capability for data fault analysis, video input, and other future processing needs. For operators who don’t return to base often, the SRVIVR25™ can record and save data from several flights until they have the opportunity to download the data. Data can be easily downloaded with the Recorder Data Interface (RDI).

L3Harris’ SRVIVR25™ recorders also support an integrated Recorder Independent Power Supply (RIPS) required to provide a minimum of 10 minutes backup power to cockpit voice recorders. The internal RIPS battery fits within the recorder saving space, weight and reduces wiring complexity.

Data support services are available through the Remote Data Interface (RDI) delivering an advanced, portable download tool for retrieving voice and flight recorder data from the aircraft securely and quickly. Operators can subscribe to the secure, cloud-based L3Harris Express Readout service, a patented automated verification of data from the flight data recording devices. The easy-to-use service enable users to upload, analyze and access mandatory reports and data from multiple flights simultaneously. It provides the most rapid solution for providing readout and intelligibility reports within hours, which meets ICAO, EASA, and FAA mandates. Additional services include Flight Data Connect that provides the capability for analyzing Flight Data Monitoring (FDM)/Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) parameters and aligning real-events to the airlines standard operating procedures (SOP).

  • Accelerometers and installation accessories are available
  • Microphones and control panels
